Synopsis:
Donald Trump, the US millionaire, started his career working with his father, a property developer, before setting his sights on Manhattan property.
His portfolio includes Trump Plaza, the 5th Ave skyscraper Trump Tower, Trump International Hotel, 40 Wall St and 610 Park Ave. The Trump Organization also operates hotels and casinos.
Trump has acquired celebrity status. In 2004, he launched The Apprentice , the reality TV programme, which became a massive hit.
In July, Trump sold his estate at 515 South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach, Florida for a record $100m. His primary residence is in New York City.
