Martin and Roman Kemp

Headline:

Bonding with the boys: Let's do something dangerous, Dad!

Synopsis:

Tackling a series of hair-raising stunts for a new TV show turned into a white-knuckle bonding session for a bunch of celebrity fathers and their sons.

When Roman Kemp was just two years old, his father, former Spandau Ballet star Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Now, 13 years later, Martin, 46, and Roman, now 15, have taken to the skies in World War II fighter planes for an extraordinary new TV adventure series.

Roman has a copy of his father's autobiography in his bedroom. Occasionally, he opens it to read chapters of an extraordinary life. The book became a bestseller, but it was written originally as an intensely personal story for Roman and his older sister, Harley, as the dad they adored battled two brain tumours.

The gesture isn't lost on Roman - a bright and cheerful teenager who clearly dotes on his father. He says, 'I'm in awe of my dad. When I consider what he went through with those brain tumours, I think that he was incredibly brave. He makes me so proud of him.
