I Asked Blair's Advice
Synopsis:
Peter Mandelson has told Sky News he took advice from former Prime Minister Tony Blair before accepting Gordon Brown's invitation to rejoin the Government.
In his first television interview since being appointed Business Secretary - his third time in the Cabinet - Mr Mandelson told Sky's political editor Adam Boulton that Mr Blair told him it was a "no brainer".
"I was very surprised (at the offer) and it took me some time to say yes, but in the end I felt it was the only thing I could, and should, do," said Mr Mandelson.
"I am - and always have been - a member of the Labour family and when times get tough families pull together and that's what we are doing."
Asked about his new relationship with Mr Brown, he said: "They say a week is a long time in politics, well four years away (in Brussels) is a lifetime and during that time you get a different view, you get a different perspective on events, on people and on relationships.
