TV house guru answers questions about property slump hell
Synopsis:
WITH a recession looming, this week brought more bad news for beleaguered homeowners. The Financial Services Authority said that house repossessions have shot up 71 per cent since last year. The Bank Of England also revealed that 500,000 people are in negative equity, which means their mortgage is bigger than the value of their home, and that could rise to 1.2MILLION. One woman who has been following these worrying trends closely is TV property expert Kirstie Allsopp. Together with sidekick Phil Spencer, she guided Brits through the property boom of the last ten years on hit Channel 4 show Location, Location, Location. Now the bubble has burst, Kirstie and Phil have filmed a one-off special offering advice on how to handle the credit-crunched housing market. It follows the pair helping two families and a first-time buyer find a home in these tough times. Here, Kirstie answers the most common questions homeowners are asking in the property slump.
