Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has designs on the Premier League prize

Synopsis:

Steven Gerrard has all the trappings of fame but he will never be trapped by them.

Liverpool's captain was flown to London in a private jet, chauffeured to the Dorchester Hotel, agreed to a £150 million residential block in Dubai being named the "Steven Gerrard Tower'' and accepted a plush apartment in return. He then talked passionately about his hunger for the Premier League and the World Cup.

Some footballers are sated by success, however fleeting the moment. Not Gerrard. He has always viewed the triumphant 2005 Champions League final as the end of a season, not the end of his search for glory.

"When I play in the Champions League now I try even harder than I did before I won it because I want to experience that feeling again,'' said Gerrard.

"I know I have had a decent career, and done well so far, but I still have so many ambitions. When I see Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and John Terry lifting the Premier League trophy over their head, and I haven't got it, I want it bad. And when I get the title, I know what my reaction will be. Simple. I will want another title.''
