'Middle-aged anorexic'. This week, an inquest heard how a 49-year-old professor died weighing less than five stone. Rosemary Pope had starved herself for so long that her heart had shrunk to the size of a child's.
Yet her disturbing case is not a one-off - anorexia is affecting an increasing number of middle-aged women.
Alison Alden, 49, told SADIE NICHOLAS how the illness ruined her 40s. She lives in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, with husband Graham, 51, who owns a courier business. The couple have three grown-up children.
